Blackmon Family Update

Our son turns 3 in March!! Hard to believe it has almost been three years since we brought him home from the hospital.

Merry Christmas!

Our little man is such a delight. He loves people and running free!

I know it has been awhile since we have updated our adoption journey followers but we are so thankful for how each of you supported us along the way. As most of you know bringing your first child home from the hospital is… overwhelming, exciting, nerve-wracking, awesome, scary, sleepless, a bit crazy?! Regardless of those initial feelings, which probably mostly stemmed from our constant sleep-deprived states those first few months, we have cherished every minute with our sweet baby boy! That part of the ride is now behind us, and we have new challenges to face - raising a strong-willed, stubborn toddler.

Emmett is perfect (minus the weekly toddler tantrums), growing like a weed, the happiest kid, and best of all he is ours! He is meeting all his developmental milestones, at his own pace of course, and we continue to pray that God protects him as he grows. We talk about his adoption openly and are excited to share his adoption video every adoption day celebration (thanks to Harry and Joy Ward for that idea). We know he still won’t quite understand what being adopted means yet, and that is ok. If you have been praying for our family and want to continue to do so please pray for us as we navigate that sensitive time of teaching him where he came from, but also how loved he is by us and by his Heavenly Father.

The latest update! We are doing it all again. We are hoping to start the adoption process again in 2024 and would love your prayers and support as we begin to navigate this journey again. We know it won’t go the way we plan, but we are excited to see where God will lead and grow our family.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon!
