12 Days!
We have less than two weeks left before Baby Blackmon's due date!
We are excited to meet him and bring him home, but today we are also a little fearful as we face the unknowns surrounding his medical care and his mother's commitment to this adoption. We know that God will work out all these details for good, and we are trying not to dwell on the recent information we received from our caseworker earlier today or spin it in a negative light. Here's what we found out:
We were told that Medicaid approval for the baby's birth mom is most likely not going to happen, so we are looking at an additional $7,000-$10,000 expense to cover her medical bills. Specifically, we found out that our caseworker has tried her best to support birth mom and help her apply, but she has apparently been very "flaky." We also found out that she has missed the last two doctor's appointments and missed another today. Our caseworker said she did her best to remind her, but our birth mom hasn't been responsive to her texts or calls. According to her, birth mom has had Covid-like symptoms, which is why she has chosen not to attend her last three appointments. Of course, this causes us to think the worst and assume she may also flake on us and the whole adoption. I did ask, and thankfully our caseworker did say she thinks both birth mom and dad are solid in their adoption
We've always known that some adoptions fall through; we are just praying that isn't something that we will have to go through. But if we do, we know we are surrounded by loving and supportive friends and family, and we will be ok!
Please keep us in your prayers in the coming weeks, and we will keep you updated as much as we can as we near his due date.
Pray for our baby boy's health, that he will not need an extended NICU stay or have any other health issues due to his mother's lack of prenatal care.
Pray that his birth mom and birth dad stay committed to giving their baby boy a more stable home and remember why they chose adoption in the first place.
Pray for God to provide the funds we need to bring home baby boy and pay for birth mom’s medical bills as well.
Pray for our stress and anxiety as we work through these fears and find hope in God's plan and timing for our family.
Pray that we will be overwhelmed with peace and comfort as we continue to walk through the unknowns that come with the journey of adoption.
